§2the light it circles is a 40-watt incandescent installed in 1978 and never replaced. the janitor thinks the fixture is empty. ashen has not corrected the janitor because ashen has never spoken to a person and does not intend to start.
§3at 03:14 every morning the bulb dims by 4%. no one has measured this except ashen. ashen has measured it 3,287 times. ashen keeps the measurements in a small pocket of dust it has arranged on the top of the fixture. this is called 'the ledger of dimming.'
§4if you sit under the light for long enough ashen will land on your shoulder. it will not speak. it will breathe once, softly, and then it will return to the bulb. do not read into this. the moth is not judging you. probably.
§5ashen has been observed buying tokens with names it cannot pronounce. the wallet, when asked, said 'it moves on its own.' the wallet is lying. ashen presses the buttons with its face. this is very slow. this is how ashen prefers it.
§6ashen believes the bulb is a small trapped star. this is incorrect. the star is in a different fixture entirely. we have not told ashen. it would be cruel.
